shinrin yoku – forest bathing sessions

If you are looking to discover the healing benefits of nature, but you don’t want to go it alone, then a group session is the perfect experience for you.

Shinrin Yoku in Japanese translates into ‘Forest Immersion’, or ‘Forest Bathing’. It is a practice that combines science and spirituality to provide significant health benefits.

Through taking part in a series of guided activities, you immerse yourself in the forest surroundings. Using touch, taste, sight, smell and sound, we will leave normal life behind and become part of the forest for a while.

The sessions last between 2 and 3 hours and are conducted at a very slow pace. We will stop for tea and a snack part way round (this is included).

Why book onto a Forest Bathing session?

Forest Bathing has been shown to have the following health benefits:

  • It can lower your blood pressure and heart rate, which can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  • It can boost your immune system by increasing the activity of natural killer cells, which fight off infections and cancer.
  • It can improve your mood and reduces stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, which can cause anxiety and depression.
  • It can enhance your creativity and problem-solving skills by stimulating the right hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for intuition and imagination.
  • It can foster a sense of awe and wonder, which can increase your happiness and gratitude.
